Partnered Vision

Our life needs a vision of its partnership with God.
Nothing stands alone. Your heart knows this and so your soul will forever be on a restless journey of dissatisfaction WITH everything until it rests in a satisfying Union with God, IN everything. This is the vision of partnership.

We need a VISION about our life that transcends the natural and is, at least, as big as the Divine intention that fashioned us.

Religion has it wrong. Our life is not about obeying God, but Union with God. God is not about issuing serious commands; He is into en-VISION-ing our spirit with enriching grace! He is not trying to get you to “tow the line”, but to flow in a Life of His kind. What God can do THROUGH your life is the only Vision your heart will be satisfied with.

Our hearts are “visioneering” centers. That is, they imagine a God-enriched life beyond our current experience – to participate in a life of greater quality, higher purpose, deeper significance and wider impact than what our little independent life is currently capable of. Unlike the independent mind, our relational heart knows that no life is meant to stand alone, but is designed for partnership with God in a vision that sees the restoration of all things back to Wholeness.

This is why most people are so discontented, boarded and stuck. We lack vision. Without vision, we settle for “life as usual”, pursuing a career, accumulating material pleasures and stuffing ourselves full with the next passing interest. Everything is evaluated, and esteemed only within a focus on a very tiny orbit called “me”.

But a life taking care of only “me” will never satisfy. The God-sized Life of Christ that we subsist in has a boundless and limitless Love for everything. It has an off-the-charts vision for the Wholeness and Fullness of every living thing. That’s why, when we venture into our spirit and turn our affections towards this Bigger Life inside us, we begin to fill up and overflow with VISION.

Just as our minds create concepts and ideas, our hearts produce vision. Our hearts imagine the impossible, believe the unbelievable and engage the unimaginable. To the mind this appears as impossible nonsense, but to the heart, it’s VISION is the only thing that’s really real.

God shares a vision of His glory and grace with us. Our spirit is a gateway into a broader revelation of who we are and what life is for. When our heart lays hold of this inner vision, boundaries, bondages impossibilities, and restrictions begin to fall before the Light in our soul. Vision becomes the only path through the challenges that stand between us and the Wholeness God’s Love calls us into.

Vision provides a good “restraint”. It keeps us focused in life on what really matters and draws our attention to what our heart adores. Without vision, our life runs wild and unrestrained leading us into all kinds of dead ends, foolish obsessions and sad regrets. Without vision our life is more “off purpose” than on.

What vision controls you? What do you see as the purpose of your life and the meaning of your living? These are not insignificant questions.
Without vision there is no governing principle to our life. To live in this age, without a heavenly vision, is to become extremely vulnerable to the concepts, values, and plans of the world that contributes to the degradation of our spiritual consciousness with vain pursuits.

Where there is no vision, all that is left for the heart to chase after are the empty husks of a single soul's self-centered interests. But when we open our heart to God’s Love, we become an envisioned people. We see possibilities, not our own problems; we believe Christ’s victory, not our victimhood; we grow in the Spirit’s love not our own losses.

Everyone needs a directing vision for their life or fall adrift to the currents of modern insanity. If you don’t raise up in vision, the world’s downward trend into darkness will veil the most beautiful inner Son-rise you could ever imagine.

So,

Raise the Vision and…

Get on with your Mission.

Language of Countenance

Your countenance is beautiful to behold. Looking lovingly into that countenance, is the spiritual practice of contemplation.

When two Lovers meet, looking lovingly into each other’s face is all the communication that is needed for a million words of affirmation, adoration and affection to be passed between them. Everything necessary to affirm a soul in its benediction is communicated by a Loving countenance.

When we are called to be “with” God, the New Testament word for “with” literally means “face-to-face”. It is the utmost intimacy and familiarity. Usually we think the word “with” means “beside”, but God doesn’t call us to look with Him at what He is looking towards, but to look AT HIM, face to Face. He wants to be the only terrain that fills our vision.

We can’t say we love God because we know about Him. We can only say we love God when there is nothing in us that contends with His position or prominence. There is an exclusivity about loving God that only a life of prayer can teach us. Knowledge doesn’t get you there. Until face-to-Face living becomes the breath of your spiritual life, no amount of book-smart will help you get one step closer to the liberation from the suffering you seek.

If I could define prayer, it would be learning to hold a long, lingering, loving gaze into the Face of God. I call this being held in God’s Embrace. This is essentially what is called the practice of contemplative prayer. We look into the depth of our spirit and there BEHOLD the Face of God.

The Mystery of this practice is that you also find your own “Face”, your True Self and here is revealed to you your own true countenance.

“How blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! O Lord , they walk in the light of Your countenance.” Psalms 89:15

We all have an “inner face” that is our truest identity and looking into the Face of Christ by the revelation of the Spirit is the mirror that reveals our original countenance. There is so much warmth and beauty to knowing ourselves in God’s Embrace. It becomes a life-altering, world-transcending, virtue-blossoming, soul-transforming vision.

We have so often turned prayer into some kind of pragmatic practice of “getting things done” or trying to force our supposedly “righteous will” on contrary circumstances, rather than practicing prayer for its true intended end: Knowing and loving God and ourselves, in Him.

Prayer is a call to behold your countenance. It is a call to know your own face in God’s Face. It’s an invite into beholding your beautiful countenance and falling in love with the goodness, Truth and Beauty you find staring back at you.

Everything we really need to know about loving God came with us as a new born baby. You see, babies have an innate drawing to behold your countenance. The face of a mother or father is their whole world. Everything about the world and their own place in it is communicated by a mothers countenance.

Children are wonderful “countenance interpreters”. They mimic the faces they see. Smile into the face of a baby and they smile back. Express a face of happiness and laughter and they laugh in reply. A mother or father’s countenance is a child’s entire language and alphabet that gives them the language their soul needs to self-identify.

God does the same with us. He calls us to “seek His Face”, so we gain the right language of spirit to be able to self-identify. By surrendering to the impetus of our spirit to behold His countenance we discover our own identity, purpose and significance.

‘When You said, “Seek My face,” my heart said to You, “Your face, O Lord , I shall seek.”’ ~Psalms 27:8

How much further ahead in consciousness we would be as a human race if, instead of getting up every morning and looking into a physical mirror to fix up the material image we see reflected there, we instead looked into the “mirror” of our spirit and adored the beautiful countenance of a soul face-to-Face with the Divine Lover.

The Kind

It seems that mankind is an unusual species. We are the only species that doesn’t know what we are doing here! Lions, dogs, goldfish and zebra – they all seem to know just what to do without much reflection, confusion or self-questioning. Meanwhile, mankind is still looking for answers, looking to find his meaning, purpose and significance.

Why is there such discontent in the heart of mankind? May I suggest to you that what we ARE isn’t even close what we were DESIGNED to be? And this mis-representation is the whole reason we are so screwed up and the world is in such a mess. We are a mis-placed species, designed for greatness but selling our souls for ignorance and littleness.

So, let’s retell an old story, but in a new light.

From the very beginning, God designed us in a unique way. An extraordinary way. You see, other than Adam, God created all the creatures of the world “after their kind”. That means that just by being what they are, as their own “kind”, they are perfectly content. For an elephant, just to be an elephant, after its kind, meant the fulfillment of its purpose. In fact, all creatures were created “after their kind”, to be their own kind; and in being themselves, they are fulfilled.

However, with man, this is NOT the case. When God created man, he was created in the “image of God”; man was not “after his kind”, but after God’s kind. Adam had an “image”, but not yet the “likeness” of God. Man’s image was for a likeness, just as a container is for the content it is made to hold. Man was made to be a God-kind, not a man-kind. “Mankind” is actually a misplaced species: an empty container lost from its exquisite purpose to contain God in all His fullness and glory. We are the only species walking around on the planet as mere phantoms and shadows of our original design.

You see, at the beginning of creation, there were dogkinds, catkinds and birdkinds, etc., but when it came to man, we were created a “Godkind”. Yes, believe it or not, but God made man after His kind. Nothing else on earth was like this. Not even angels have this capacity. All throughout human history, mankind has held up his own self-image as a kind of trophy to his own ingenious designs. We have built elaborate civilizations, climbed the highest mountains, bent the planet to our will and are near bringing to extinction most of the other creatures who share the world with us. We hold up this mantra of “humankind” as a kind of proud trophy, when in fact, it is the most misplaced “kind” in the universe.

I like to think of the “fall” as the greatest misnaming that has ever happened. “Godkind” named themselves as “mankind” – and our thoughts have descended into this great vanity ever since. This means that, before the fall of man from this place of glorious potential, there was no “mankind”; there was only God’s kind. Contrary to the definition given in Webster’s dictionary, from God’s point of view, the word “mankind” is a sad and negative term -- for there should be no “mankind” as we presently know it. We are an unfinished product. There should only be a Godkind.

From the beginning, the plan was to create Adam’s race as God’s kind. However, after the fall, man separated himself from God in his mind and sought to establish his “own kind” and became a “mankind”. Through this misnaming, all kinds of negative and unworthy elements have come in to fill man’s empty image with things that cause us endless heartache and sorrow. Because of a Godkind that chose to just be a humankind, the whole world has been thrown into ontological confusion and chaos.

Now, you may think this is very pessimistic about mankind. NOT AT ALL!! It is the very opposite: our mistaken identity should be the strongest call to wake up and to re-take our position in the heart of God. Man isn’t heading for some Armageddon extinction; rather, we are heading for a stunning wake up call like those awakening from a long night’s nightmare. Believe it or not, but what we see and have believed about our species is all coming to a glorious transformation. The verdict of that decree has already been determined and demonstrated and stands at the right hand of God -- FOR us and AS us. The Son is the exemplified species of the Godkind. He is our mirrored refection in the pool of Siloam. You see, the gospel was never about a plan for mankind’s moral improvement. It was about an ENDING of the mankind species and a re-establishment within the eternal planes of glory, as the original Godkind species.

This is why religion is boring, but truth is liberating.

Yes, I know. This all sounds very fantastical and irreligious. GOOD! I don’t want to waste your time with more boring religious ideology; I want to wake you up to your actual birthright! I am not on the bandwagon of improving mankind. I am on a throne, in the Son, in heavenly places, telling you that you are a misplaced species and to come home to the Father’s house. You are Godkind. Your “next of kin” is the Father, Son and Spirit, not a chimpanzee!

Your forgotten image is in need of being filled with a likeness that only God can fulfill. You are to be a Godkind, not a humankind. There is no happy future for a species that was never to exist in the first place. But there is eternal bliss for the image within you that calls for its fulfilling likeness to be received, to germinate, grow and consummate in the Eternal Son.

Trust me… the future of mankind will be nothing more than the unsatisfactory story we hear day after day on the nightly news. But the future of the image tucked away beneath your delusion and ignorance is most excellent, bright and beautiful. THAT species future will be as it was originally designed to be: RESPLENDANCE!!

“Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.” ~Matthew 13:43
